My thoughts on the Ideas Book
I purchased my own copy of Volume One as I don't believe in recommending a product that I have no personal knowledge of. The information has been well researched and the guides are
very reasonably priced at only $19.95 (AUD).
In Volume #1 over 90 ideas for home businesses are featured. The author has profiled a range of businesses from arts and crafts, business support, care services, food related businesses, online businesses and more!
Each idea profiled includes a rundown of the approximate costs to get started, the skills required and an estimate of the earning potential.
I feel that some of the earning potential figures quoted may be a little on the conservative side. But that is a definate plus! It is much better to underestimate your income potential then it is to overestimate it.
As well as profiling over 90 business ideas, Sophie also talks about defining your business idea, researching your market and choosing your business structure.
Each page is broken up by pictures or tables. I feel that this is good for breaking up text, especially when reading large amounts of text on a screen. If downloading the book to read it later you may prefer to set your printer options to 'draft' so as to not use too much ink.
The verdict!
If you want to start your own business, these guides are a great starting point. Even if you've been in business before I guarantee that there are ideas here that you haven't thought of. I wish I'd had it when I was starting out.
At only $19.95 the book is one of the best value for money books on the internet that I have come across. It will save you hours of valuable research time.
If you are concerned that this book might be all padding and no oomph you will be very pleasantly surprised. Unlike a lot of e-books out there Sophie has done her research. She writes in a friendly conversational tone and the passion that she has for small business is evident in the 129 pages of volume #1.
For the mums out there, there is also another title available, 'Confessions of a mumprenuer' which showcases interviews with many successful business women.
